High Wire Distilling
I first met Ann and Scott the year I moved here. I was invited to cook for the Lowcountry Land Trust's "Flourish" event and they were one of the featured speakers, among other amazing folks fighting the good food and conservation fight. Once we were introduced I was immediately a fan. Since that time they have only grown in size and notoriety. Whenever I am asked for a great local distillery to buy stuff for a dinner, this is my first choice.
Their products are all outstanding but my favorite is the "Jimmy Red". A true Low Country classic in so many ways. The cool part is that this grain is truly part of Charleston history and not commonly used in Bourbon production. I also watch out for any special releases of this category.
They also do other cool releases of brandies and other spirits using local farm products. Watermelon Brandy from SC watermelons, Rhum Agricole from Jimmy Hagood's Sugar Cane and others.
