Private Dinners
Interactive Dinner Parties
My most requested service is interactive dinner parties for groups of anywhere from 8 to about 25 people - family, friends, groups on vacation, or whatever you are wishing to gather for.
The entire meal will be cooked right in front of you, and guests are more than welcome to observe as much of the process as they’d like. It’s truly a unique, world class food experience in a fun and casual setting that everyone will enjoy in their own way.
From the first consultation to the final bite, every detail is meticulously curated to exceed your expectations.
How it works
It starts with a phone conversation to learn more about you, your guests, dietary restrictions, likes and dislikes, and details about the home kitchen and event space. From there, I’ll create a custom, multi-coursed food experience specifically for you, with a menu everyone can happily enjoy.
The days leading up to your event I do all the shopping, traveling and preparation. The day of, I arrive at your home before your guests to set up, and the experience begins.
Your menu will be crafted from only the best possible ingredients from the best possible sources (mostly from local farms and fisherman). The food style always reflects farm-to-table and incorporates flavors from around the globe.

Ingredient-inspired Menus
-
Custom Ingredient-Driven
Based around the best ingredients I can get anywhere. I combine my best Lowcountry sources with my best sources nationwide to drive the menu. After speaking with a client to get a feel for the types of food they and their guests enjoy, I take my style and approach to ingredients to deliver a custom “greatest hits” menu that’s sure to please.
-
Lowcounty Farm-to-Table
This is what I call “Charleston food”. Driven more by ingredients than actual dishes, I take into account what’s available locally here in Charleston – and that becomes the basis for all the dishes. You can leave it to me or suggest particular ingredients, and I’ll work to include them if available.
-
Indian Flavor Experience
With 10 years of experience cooking Indian-inspired food at Tabla with the great Chef Floyd Cardoz, this is one of my favorite things to cook. My approach is much like that of a true Indian cook, starting with local ingredients that are in-season and a menu sure to delight. An experience not to miss.
-
Seafood
Charleston has great seafood. I source the freshest-caught seafood from the area’s best providers and let this drive the menu along with outstanding local produce.
-
Vegetarian
I love to cook vegetarian, whether that means vegan or any variation of the style of cuisine. In fact, vegetables are the driving force in all my food. In Charleston we have some amazing farms easily accessible almost year round. I work closely with those farmers to drive a unique and diverse menu.

And More...
There are many directions we can take with your dinner menu. While I’ve listed the most popular styles, together we can create an outstanding menu featuring the finest and freshest ingredients I can get my hands on.
Dinner Styles
Multi-Course Small Plate Experience
My favorite, and most of my guests’ favorite as well. After a phone conversation to learn more about your tastes, I custom-design several courses of small composed dishes in succession to highlight many flavors and ingredients. These are served one plate at a time and progress from lighter and colder flavors and build into bolder and warmer dishes. Followed by dessert. The type of cuisine varies and is influenced by each client, but a farm-to-table approach is always there.
This format is casual, unique and fun for everyone. I cook everything right there in front of you, which allows me to pace the evening as it goes. This allows guests to enjoy the experience standing, sitting or spread out casually.
Family Style Spread
This format starts with a few appetizers to get things started. From there there is a small break and then I provide a large platter spread. This usually contains a main protein, a couple vegetable sides and a starch, finishing with dessert. This format can be set on the table to be passed or can be put up on an Island or counter for guests to help themselves.
Notes:
All dietary restrictions, likes and dislikes are taken into account for every menu I do. My goal is to create a menu everyone can happily enjoy.
