Sea Island Jerseys

Celeste and George Albers are some of my favorite people here in the Lowcountry. Everything they do seems right for so many reasons. They care for and milk a small heard of Jersey Cows and sell the “raw” milk right on the farm and at the Sea Island Famers market.

Over the years in Charleston they have done it all in farming from Veggies, to Eggs, to Pigs, to Shrimping and everything in between. They are legends here, rightly so and long before my time. They were some of the first to be supplying Charleston’s best Chefs with the best Vegetables.

They primarily do the milk presently, but also Honey and handmade candles. Celeste is also a source for Heirloom Grains and corn from Anson Mills.

My family goes through 2 gallons a week and I make the trip out to Wadmalaw once every week or two to get it. Going in the spring is my favorite to see the newborn calves.
